Alexander Granat, famous Russian encyclopedist, died here yesterday at the age of seventy-five. He had founded the Russian encyclopedical dictionary more than forty years ago and had continued to edit it until shortly before his death, when the work had reached thirty-six volumes. The revolution did not affect his work and it was continued after the overthrow of the czar, when it became known as the Granat Encyclopedia. The most famous scientists of the periods before and after the revolution collaborated in the preparation of the works.
