A call to people of all faiths to join in the observance of Brotherhood Day on February 24 was issued yesterday by the National Conference of Jews and Christians of which Newton D. Baker. Prof. Carlton J. Hayes and Roger W. Straus are co-chairmen.
Officially launching plans for the nationwide observance of Brotherhood Day, which this year will be observed in association with Washington’s Birthday, Dr. Everett Clinchy. director of the conference, said: “We must learn to live peacefully and cooperatively with people in groups other than our own or we shall revert through war, lynchings, and religious riots to primitive tribalism.
“Brotherhood Day.” continued Dr. Clinchy, “aims to bring this message in terms that all can understand and proposes to implement the teaching of Brotherhood Day with manifold ways in which it can be practiced. More than 500 local communities throughout the nation have formed, or are organizing, local committees for educational work in connection with this observance.”
