All Jewish shops were closed here today during the funeral of Dr. Angelo Sacerdoti, Chief Rabbi of Italy, who died suddenly yesterday at the age of 49.
King Victor Emmanuel III telegraphed a message of condolence to the family of Rabbi Sacerdoti. A similar message was also received by the family from the Italian Cabinet.
Many high officials of the government were present at the funereral services, which were held in the Synagogue of Rome. The governor of the Roman province officially represented the military command at the services. Representatives of the militia and of the Fascist party headquarters were also present at the funeral ceremonies.
