All Jews in Pietrkow in western Poland will be confined in the ghetto which the Nazi occupation authorities have established there, by March 31, which has been set as the deadlines for the “final cutting – off of the Pietrkow ghetto from the outside world,” according to the Coniec Krakowski, published by the Germans in Cracow, which reached here today.
The gates of the Pietrkow ghetto were closer on February 28, the Nazi paper reports, and since them no Aryans, except officials. have been admitted within its walls and no Jews have been permitted to leave, except when officially summoned to the German labor offices or to attend a funeral. Jews still living outside the ghetto confines have been informed that they must move into the segregated quarter by the end of this month. At the same time, Poles living in what is now the ghetto have been ordered to move by March 31, Violation of these regulations, the Coniec Krakowski writes, will be punished severely, in some cases even with death.
The Ostdeutschen Beobachter, chief Nazi organ in the Warthegau district of occupied Poland, today reports that the German authorities throughout Poland are now systematically rounding-up Jews still living outside the ghettos. Two Jews, Zalmen and Froim Koczelkowski were arrested in Swerzedz near Poznan for not possessing the necessary identification papers and for failing to wear a Yellow Mogen David. They were both sent to a Jewish concentration camp.
