The League for Safeguarding the Fixity of the Sabbath, representing Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Jewish groups in this country, as well as numerous lay Jewish organizations, pointed out in a statement issued this week-end that “practically all elements in Jewry are opposed” to the calendar reform proposals raised before the U.N. by the Panamanian delegation.
The League statement also noted that the “dislocation of the Sabbath from the seventh day is the only thing that is of grave concern to the Jews of the world.”
