All Polish Jews who served in the Polish armed forces under British command are being offered repatriation to Poland regardless of whether they were born in the section of Poland which is now part of the USSR, it was announced here today by Polish Government spokesmen.
The announcement was made following a statement made in the House of Commons today by Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin concerning the demobilization of the Polish forces. Bevin pledged that those not wishing to return will receive assistance from the British Government and other governments to start a new life outside Poland with their families and dependents. Describing the problem as difficult, Bevin said the British Government could not at this stage give a guarantee that all these men will be enabled to settle in British territory at home or overseas. Plans to be made will depend largely on the number of those still remaining, which will not be known for some weeks.
