2,000 Jewish young men in Soviet Russia are now engaged in agricultural work carried on on the co-operative farms, under the direction of the “All-Russian Communist Hachalutz,” according to reports submitted at the All-Russian Congress of Communist Hachalutz, which has just been concluded in Moscow.
Only 80 of this number are laborers, the rest being artisans, intellectuals and ex-traders.
The conference adopted a resolution which stated that the evils of Jewish life in the Diaspora countries were due to the fact that the Jewish masses were not prcletarianized, and that it was the aim of the Communist Hachalutz to create a labor commune in collectivist Palestine.
Another resolution adopted stated that the activity of the Communist Hachalutz is non-political, and consists only of practical preparations for those who wish to go to Palestine. It stresses the matter of the Hebrew language and Jewish history.
The hall where the conference took place was decorated with pictures of Lenin and Joseph Trumpeldor, the Hachalutz leader, who was killed several years ago in a riot with Arabs in Palestine.
The conference closed with the singing of the Internationale in Hebrew.
