All American troops were withdrawn today from Palestine and the U.S. military camp at Tel Litwinsky has been closed down. Officers of the Army-Navy Liquidation Committee will arrive within the nest few days to dispose of millions of dollars worth of U.S. property here, which will be sold locally.
At the same time, Jewish and Arab auxiliary police were withdrawn from all military installations, and were replaced by British East and West African troops. The auxiliary police, which has been used for guard duty, may be disbanded.
This dispatch is the first uncensored cable to leave here in six years of official censorship, which were preceded by two years of unofficial censorship. The censorship on outgoing cables ended last night, although incoming material will still be censored.
It marks the end of a very difficult period for correspondents in Palestine, who were forced to dance to a tune played by the Government. They were compelled to suppress much news, and were hard put to present to the world a picture of Jewish pain and Jewish protests.
