“All United Jewish Appeal programs which are not directly and immediately involved in meeting our historic 1974 goal of $750 million,” stated Paul Zuckerman, UJA general chairman, “have been postponed or cancelled. Our leaders and the leaders of Federations and Welfare Funds have given up their businesses and their daily activities to devote themselves full-time to meet the crisis.” Included in the postponed or cancelled activities are national meetings and scheduled missions to Israel.
