Contributions totalling $2 million were received here last night for Jewish programs in Canada and Israel at a dinner honoring Allan Bronfman, president of the Canadian Friends of Hebrew University, attended by more than 1000 persons. The occasion was Bronfman’s 80th birthday. The funds will be used by the Allan and Lucy Bronfman Foundation for the creation of a dormitory for students at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and to encourage research in medicine, arts and cultural activities in both countries, Bronfman told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that his first love was for Israel and the Jews.
