Eighteen thousand dollars toward this city’s combined campaign for $40,000 for the United Palestine Appeal and the United Jewish Campaign, was raised last night at a banquet opening the drive for the three year quota.
Congressman Ben Golder and Benjamin Schwartz, regional director for the United Palestine Appeal, addressed the gathering. Among the contributors were Charles Klein, $5,000; Simon Brone, Sam Perkin, Charles Luria, $1,000 each; A. Sontag, S. Hoffman, Carrol Bros., M. Rosenberg, J. Gayman, J. Rappaport, J. Levin, $500 each, H. Haltzel, $600. Charles Klein was chosen Honorary Chairman of the campaign and Henry Haltzel, Chairman.
