The American Friends of the Alliance Israelite announced today that the Alliance will build a $1,000,000 combination high school and junior college in Tel Aviv. The announcement was made at the annual meeting of the organization by Marcel Franco, president. The French Government, the Israel Government and the Tel Aviv municipality have promised their cooperation, he reported.
Mr. Franco, who was re-elected president at the meeting, also reported that additional schools were recently opened by the Alliance in North Africa. The total number of students in the Alliance school network in both North Africa and Israel is 52,376. Count Jean de Lagarde, Consul General of France, who attended the meeting, presented the Croix de la Legion d’Honneur to Mr. France on behalf of his government. Israel Consul General Abraham Harman was one of the speakers ### the meeting, at which Alan M. Strook was re-elected chairman of the board of directors of the American Friends.
