Relief for Sabbath workers who, under the present law are permitted to work on Sunday, but not to do business on that day, is being sought by the Jewish Sabbath Alliance of America. William Rosenberg, executive secretary of the Alliance, conferred today with legislative representatives to secure relief from the Sunday law under which Seventh Day observers are often brought to court for attending to their business on Sunday.
The Sabbath Alliance urges that no persons should be forced to rest two days each week and that the State should not take sides in any religious dispute. The president of the Sabbath Alliance, Dr. Bernard Drachman, is expected to confer with legislative leaders on the question.
