The Jewish children of Brussels will be the guests of Allied Jewish soldiers stationed here, at a Chanukah party to be held Sunday at the Allied Forces Club. The arrangements are being made by the Jewish Hospitality Committee.
Another party will be held at Malines where the Jewish Brigade, which is stationed there, will act as host to the children. The soldiers have been collecting chocolates and other sweets for weeks to serve as gifts.
Jewish workshops and factories were closed down for several hours this Monday as a protest against the Bevin statement on Palestine. Parents who had been asked not to send their children to school that day were provided with printed notes to the headmasters giving the reason for the children’s absence. Demonstrations were held in various parts of the city.
