Yosef Almogi, chairman of the World Zionist Organization and Jewish Agency Executives may meet with President Nicolae Ceausescu of Rumania during his expected visit to that country, probably in February. Contacts and discussions aimed at such a meeting have been going on for the past few days, it was learned today. Almogi was invited by Chief Rabbi Moses Rosen of Rumania to visit the Jewish communities in Bucharest and other cities.
The WZO Executive is expected to approve the visit which has important political significance because Rosen’s invitation to Almogi almost certainly was extended with the prior knowledge and approval of the Rumanian government. The Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned that Almogi has already discussed visiting Rumania with Foreign Minister Yigal Allon. He will be the first Israeli Zionist official to visit that country.
