Almost Year Old, Liberation Keeps Up Its Infantile Yowl Against Any One Who’s a Jew

There’s going to be another anniversary next week. “Liberation.” the magazine published by William Dudley Pelley, Silver Shirt extraordinary and chief tuner-in on the Psychic Antennae, will be a year old.

“In one week from today,” as the magazine itself announces, “there will be 52 issues of continuous expose of the traitorous control of our Government and American institutions by the enemies of our country.”

And, describing his horrendous struggle against the forces of Evil (meaning the Jews who “fill every important office in the Washington government,” in case you didn’t know), Pelley announces “that every inch of this Silver Legion program has been under the counselling of Magnificent Wisdom-that through these pages shines an All-Pervading Presence which, to recognize, comprises an attunement with the Soul of the Aryan Race.”

And Pelley, ex-scenario writer that he is, almost slipped. in a “Came the dawn” there. But he remembered he was in a different business now, in a racket that must be getting a little tough. For the last lines on the last page of “Liberation” announce that it will “sweep forward” in exactly the tempo that those thousands of small contributors keep the munitions of war in the Silver Legion’s War Chest. “Your help is needed now as never before!”

There are in the current issue, for instance, the usual revelations of the inner workings of the government at Washington. Postmaster James J. Farley will resign and James Warburg, “for obvious reasons,” will take his place. The “obvious reasons,” we presume, are that the wily Jews intend to keep “Liberation” out of the mails. But “the Silver Shirt organization is now so big that it can quite well contrive to distribute its publications without any assistance from the post-office whatsoever in fact, it has made several changes in its publication plans with exactly that end in view.” So there!

And then there’s the explanation of what “Silver Shirts Think of Race Prejudice.” “It is a vital mistake.” it seems, “to accuse a Silver Shirt of Race Prejudice.” You see, “it is impossible to have prejudice against an inferior. Prejudice is the attitude of little minds for that which they do not understand.”

Putting theory into practice, “Liberation” says “Sure, let us love the Jews who cannot point to an original or constructive contribution to our civilization, including the over-rated Einstein whose bubble has long been exploded by hard-headed Aryan scientists, first, because of his plagiarism and secondly, because of his uselessness.”

There goes poor old Einstein, boys. Remember him? He used to be a big shot before the All-Pervading Presence and the Soul of the Aryan Race. They’re working together. They’re making “a stupendous Roll Call of those who constitute the flower, the cream and the bead of Christian manhood-arousing patriots to the tragic need of hallowed service to their God and Country-that a nation of the people, by the people , and for the people shall not perish form the earth.”

Didn’t a man named Lincoln use those words once? Or maybe he was a Silver Shirt too? Benjamin Franklin was. “Liberation” says so. And “Liberation” knows. It has the Psychic Antennae, the All-Pervading Presence and the Soul of the A#an Race lined up benind it.
