Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Avraham Harman was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Hebrew Letters at a special convocation today of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Sir Isaiah Berlin, Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford University, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree at the convocation. Sir Isaiah is the author of several books, including biographies of Chain Weizmann and Moses Hess.
Judge Simon Sobeloff, of the United States Court of Appeals, delivered the convocation address. Albert List, a New York industrialist and Mrs. List, were awarded the Solomon Schechter Medal for “cooperative efforts in the service of mankind.”
