The Jews in Canada were lauded here by Israel Ambassador Yaacov Herzog in a Rosh Hashanah message which emphasized that “Canadian Jewry active interest in and dedication to Israel represent a highly distinguished chapter in contemporary Jewish annals.”
Referring to the problems facing Israel in the coming year, Ambassador Herzog said: “Israel still faces the challenge of survival. Her path into the future is strewn with much danger and difficulty. But on the threshold of the year 5721 she can draw encouragement from achievement, past and present. Slowly but surely, the drama of redemption unfolds year after year in this new epoch of Jewish history.”
