Declaring that the California Alien Land Law and the Nuremberg laws “rest on the same un-American doctrine,” the American Jewish Congress has filed a brief with the United States Supreme Court urging review of a California Supreme Court decision denying ownership of property to an American citizan of Japanese ancestry.
“If this odious racism is accepted by the courts,” the Congress said, “nothing will stand in the way of similar discrimination against any other group which a state decides to describe as ‘non-assimilable.'”
