American-aided Overseas Camp Network to Receive 22, 000 Jewish Children

One hundred and two summer camps that will provide recreation for nearly 22, 000 Jewish children in Europe, North Africa and Iran, most of them from under-privileged homes, opened for the season today.

The camps are maintained by local Jewish organizations with subsidies and technical assistance from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee which has its European operating headquarters here. Most of the children are aged six to 16 but there are 12 camps for youth aged 16-25

Of the campers this year, about 15, 000 will come from 12 countries of Europe, including 3, 000 from Polard 6, 400 from Morocco and Tunisia, and 375 from Iran.
