Teacher’s Day, a new annual event in Jewish community life, was proclaimed by the American Association for Jewish Education in a special resolution adopted by its board of governors this week-end. The observance is to take place during the week of Lag B’Omer, historically designated as “The Scholar’s Holiday.” Lag B’Omer this year will fall on May 26.
In announcing the resolution, which calls upon schools, congregations and other educational agencies to give public recognition to the Jewish teacher and educator, Philip W. Lown, president of the American Association, stated that program materials are already in preparation and will be mailed shortly to rabbis, educational administrators, and lay heads of national and local educational institutions.
