American Association for Jewish Education Reviews Ten Years of Its Activities

The influence which the American Association for Jewish Education has exercised for the ten years of its existence upon Jewish education in the United States was emphasized here last night by Michael A. Stavitsky, president of the organization, at a dinner marking the tenth anniversary of the Association.

Reviewing the activities of the organization, Mr. Stavitsky, addressing the Jewish communal leaders from all parts of the country who attended the dinner, said: “The Association has left an indelible imprint on American Jewish life and has emphasized community responsibility in Jewish education and encouraged an educational program bread enough to serve every ideological group within the community.”

Sen. Paul Douglas, of Illinois, told the guests that the establishment of Israel had not created a double loyalty within American Jews. He added that the issue of double loyalty “could arise only if the American community as a whole forsook its own traditions or if Jews forsook theirs.”
