The American Association for the United Nations today disassociated itself from a recent letter to the New York Times by an honorary vice-president of the organization demanding that the city of Jerusalem be internationalized. The letter was signed by Michael Francis Doyle of Philadelphia, one-time member of the International Court of Arbitration at The Hague.
Today’s action was taken by Clark M. Eichelberger, executive director of the Association, in another letter to the Times. He explained that Mr. Doyle wrote the letter in his own name and that the “Association had not seen his communication and knew nothing about it” before it was published by the Times. Mr. Eichelberger added that the association has not expressed itself on the subject of an international status for Jerusalem since 1948, but will discuss it at the next meeting of the board of directors.
