Professor Arthur Lehman Goodhart, New York-born Master at the University College at Oxford, was lauded today for a gift of 150,000 pounds sterling ($420,000) to construct some new buildings at the college.
Dr. Goodhart, whose family is connected with the New York investment banking firm, Lehman Brothers, came to Britain in the United States Army in World War I. He met a former tutor from Cambridge, who invited him back to the university as a lecturer. Dr. Goodhart accepted the invitation at the end of the war. The 71-year-old educator has been in Britain since.
