American constabulary headquarters today reiterated that displaced persons must be brought before a military government court within 24 hours or released on bail.
An article in a bulletin issued by the constabulary admitted that this directive, which was first issued last August, had not been observed and that DP’s had been held in military stockades for varying periods before being brought into court.
The article is believed to be motivated by the recent protest by Jewish circles against the confinement of Horman Plachozincky, a Jewish DP, for several weeks after his arrest, without any charges being filed against him.
