The American Federation of Labor has pledged its full support of a bill now before Congress for an American grant-in-aid to Israel of $150,000,000. In a letter to the American Trade Union Council for the Histadrut, A.F.L. president William Green said that the federation will “gladly cooperate with you in every possible way to secure passage of the bill.”
The Hotel and Restaurant Employees and Bartenders International Union, A.F.L., has contributed $100,000 to the Israel Histadrut Campaign for a special Histadrut housing project in Holon, a suburb of Tel Aviv, Isidor Laderman, executive director of the American Trade Union Council for Histadrut, announced here today. Mr. Laderman said that the street on which these houses are to be built will be named “Hugo Ernst Street” in tribute to the president of the International.
