Daniel G. Ross was re-elected president of the American Friends of Hebrew University, and Philip M. Klutznick was chosen chairman of the board of directors at the thirty-third annual meeting here today. Justice Felix Frankfurter, Mrs. Felix M. Warburg and Dr. Israel S. Wechsler serve as honorary presidents of the American Friends.
Speaking at the annual meeting, Haim C. Cohn, Attorney General of Israel, said that the Jerusalem university was playing a unique role in affording the young Arabs of Israel an opportunity to gain a higher education in both the sciences and the humanities. “The Arab students and graduates of Hebrew University are going back to their cities and villages in Israel bringing their people the message of civilization, ” Mr. Cohn declared. There are 100 Arabs enrolled at the University this year.
A report on the recent inaugural of the new Hebrew University campus was given by Dr. George S. Wise, chairman of the University’s international board of governors. The American Friends is conducting a nationwide campaign to raise an additional $10, 000, 000 to complete the new campus of Hebrew University at Givat Ram, Jerusalem.
