A $5,500,000 goal for next year’s campaign was set here today by the board of governors of the American Histadrut Appeal.
The meeting, which was attended by representatives from all over the country, heard a report by Dr. Dov Biegun, executive secretary of the National Committee for Labor Israel, who revealed that last year’s campaign registered an increase of 22 percent over the proceeds of the year before. This, he said, was the first time since 1948 that the decline in the income of the American Histadrut campaign was halted.
Dr. Biegun also outlined a program-for future activities. Moshe Bartal, Israel Histadrut representative here, reported on political activities among trade unions in this country and Canada. A special session of the meeting was devoted to an appreciation of the 70th birthday of Premier David Ben Gurion. Greetings were sent to the Premier from the session.
