The newly-organized Hitachdut Olei America, organization for the integration of immigrants from the United States and Canada, will hold its first national conference here next Tuesday. The organization was founded three months ago by a group of about 100.
Plans for mobilization of support of American and Canadian Zionist organizations and groups will be submitted to the conference which will also consider housing projects for American immigrants. The organization is now negotiating for the purchase of 50 prefabricated houses to be erected in the Jerusalem area. Forty delegates, representing about 1, 000 immigrants, are expected to reaffirm the organization’s non-partisan and non-political policy.
A special religious service was held here by the Argentine Jewish community yesterday to offer prayers for the recovery of Mme. Juan D. Peron, wife of the Argentine President. The services were held under the auspices of the Council of Argentinean Synagogues. Representatives of all congregations and leaders of the Ashkenazic and Sephardic communities and the public participated in the services. Those present included Dr. Pablo Manguel, Argentine Minister to Israel, and Captain Joshua Goldberg, U.S. Navy chaplain.
