The America-Israel Cultural Foundation reported at its annual meeting last week that it spent over $1.4 million in 1968 for cultural projects and the training of young artists in Israel. The sum included more than $285,000 worth of art works and musical instruments on permanent loan to institutions in Israel. The violinist, Isaac Stern, was elected chairman of the Foundation’s board of director. William Mazer was elected president.
In his annual report, Mr. Mazer described the “concert circuit.” a project of the Foundation designed to bring good music to Israeli towns and settlements and raise the general level of taste. He also said the Foundation, in cooperation with the Helena Rubenstein Foundation, was establishing a program of scholarships for leading artists and art teachers to offer courses in Israel.
