A review of the projected $200,000,000 joint United States-Israeli nuclear desalination program was held here yesterday at a meeting between Ellsworth Bunker and Gen, Ephraim Beu-Artzi, Israel coordinator for the experimental project. Participants also included Israeli Ambassador Avraham Harman and scientific counselor Hillel Aldaag. The meeting reviewed pending questions and aspects of the plan.

Mr. Bunker, who has been serving as President Johnson’s personal envoy on the joint project, has been named U.S. Ambassador to South Viet Nam and is terminating his assignment on the desalination program. Government sources said today that no decision had been taken on a replacement of Mr. Bunker in the desalination project, which will seek to determine the technical and economic feasibility of the application of nuclear energy to the desalting of brackish water.
