An American Jewish Committee delegation headed by Jacob Blaustein, its president, arrived here today en route to Israel. The A.J.C. leaders later met with U.S. Ambassador Jefferson Caffrey and were informed that President Auriol, who is not in the city, had expressed a desire to receive them on their return journey. The delegation will attend a dinner this evening arranged in their honor by Maurice Fischer, Israeli representative to France.
Upon their arrival here, the delegation, in a statement to the press, emphasized that Israel must be aided to become self-supporting. The statement, issued by ?laustein, also voiced the belief that friendly relations between Israel and the Arab states could be achieved. The American Jewish Committee will do its utmost to help in this effort, the statement added.
