Philip E. Hoffman, president of the American Jewish Committee, called on the United States Government, the United Nations and “men of good will everywhere” today to exert their efforts to prevail upon the Iraqi Government “to end the persecution of its Jewish and other minorities.” The Committee charged that past statements by the president of Iraq that discriminatory legislation in his country would be ended and the Jews permitted to emigrate had not been honored.
