The seventieth birthday of Dr. Stephen S. Wise, president of the American Jewish Congress, and his completion of more than fifty years in the forefront of progressive thought in the United States, will be celebrated at a dinner at the Hotel Commodore on March 16, it was announced today by the American Jewish Congress.
Dr. Wise, Rabbi of the Free Synagogue, and a founder of the Congress and outstanding leader of American Jews, will be honored throughout the week of March 12 by a series of functions which the dinner at the Commodore will climax. The dinner will be under the auspices of the American Jewish Congress and the Zionist Organization of America.
