The American Jewish Congress 1956 Stephen S. Wise Award in the field of advancement of Jewish education, culture and scholarship has been awarded to the Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning.
The award- $1,000 and a plaque–was presented to the college for its work in opening new facets of knowledge for scholars of all faiths and nationalities working in the fields of Hebrew, Semitics, rabbinics, Bible, Jewish Education and Middle Eas’ subjects.” The presentation was made by Dr. Israel Goldstein, AJC president, to Dr. Abraham A. Neuman, president of the college.
