The American Jewish Congress this week-end charged that some resort hotels in the state of Maine practice discrimination and asked for corrective legislation. In a letter to Maine Gov. Frederick S. Payne, the A.J.C.’s counsel for New England, Gerald R. Berlin, cited brochures and letters from specific hotels which contained “latently discriminatory language,” and urged Gov. Payne to initiate action on a public accommodations law to correct the abuses.
