An initial sum of $10,000 has been appropriated by the Commission on Community Interrelations of the American Jewish Congress to encourage and expand scientific research on group minority problems in the United States through a system of “grants-in-aid” to university students, which will enable them to develop special studies in communities in various parts of the country, it was announced here today.

It was also announced by the Congress that four recent graduates of religious seminaries had been awarded fellowships for research in contemporary Jewish problems. The four, who will work under the organization’s guidance, beginning in September, are: Arthur Chiel, Jewish Institute of Religion; Joseph Goldman, Hebrew Theological Institute, Chicago; Herzl Fishman, Jewish Theological Seminary; Leonard Zion, Yeshiva University.
