A refusal to accept a donation of $200 made to the American Jewish Congress by Solomon Sufrin on behalf of the Roumanian Jewish Committee, a recently organized group whose purpose is announced as “to do work on behalf of the Jews in Roumania,” was made public when Leon Wolfson, president of the United Roumanian Jews of America, announced the receipt of a copy of the letter addressed to Mr. Sufrin by the Congress.
The Roumanian Jewish Committee was organized by several officers of the United Roumanian Jews of America, whose policies and leadership were repudiated at the last convention of the organization held in January. Upon representations made to the American Jewish Congress by the United Roumanian Jews, the former refused to recognize the committee, returned the contribution, and urged the group to work with the recognized organization.
