American Jewish contributions to the war effort of the United States and the methods by which the claims of Jews may be presented at a post-war Peace Conference following a defeat of the Axis powers, will be the principal subjects of discussion at a three-day session of the American Jewish Congress opening here tomorrow.
The session was preceded today by a meeting of the national administrative committee of the Congress. Approximately 500 delegates from all parts of the country are expected to attend the sessions which will be opened by Dr Stephen S. Wise, the Congress’ president.
Among the subjects which the conclave will discuss are: Economic Discrimination; Law and Legislation; the strengthening of Democracy against un-American movements; post-war reconstruction, Inter-American Jewish unity; the organization of the American-Jewish community; Youth activities, and American-Jewish war effort. Sir Norman Angell, Nobel prize winner, Dr. Malcolm MacLean, Chairman of the President’s Committee on Fair Employment Practices, Jonathan Deniels, Assistant Director in charge of Civilian Mobilization, are among the distinguished non-Jewish personalities who will participate in the deliberations. The delegates will be welcomed to Chicago by Mayor Kelly and by Lieutenant-Governor Cross of Illinois.
