The news that a delegation of American Jews will soon proceed to Palestine was revealed today by Moshe Shertok, head of the political department of the executive of the Jewish Agency, addressing a press conference here.
“The Yishub will wholeheartedly welcome this delegation,” Shertok said. He pointed out that the defense of Palestine and the Middle East calls for large numbers of recruits and urged the Jews of Palestine to enlist in the army “in ever-increasing numbers” despite the refusal of the British Government to permit the establishment of a special Jewish army. “To all dangers and disappointments which we are now facing, there can only be one reaction – an immediate and maximum Jewish enlistment,” he declared.
