American Jewish leaders expressed support for President Bush’s plan to present a peace “road map” to Israelis and Palestinians. “It set June 24 as the bottom line, and that was the key,” said Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. He was referring to a speech last summer in which Bush called for an end to Palestinian attacks on Israel, the replacement of the Palestinian leadership and significant reforms in the Palestinian Authority.
