The American Jewish League for Israel today officially opened a nationwide membership drive which will culminate on March 29, 1958, at a national conference in Washington, D. C. Ezra Shapiro of Cleveland, president of the AJLI and Samuel Rothberg, of Peoria, chairman of the League’s board of directors, announced plans for an intensive membership campaign after a meeting of leading officials, of the AJLI held here.
Among those who mapped out the details of the forthcoming drive at the Washington meeting were Judge Louis Levinthal, Jacob Alkow, Harry Seeve, Samuel Daroff, and Rabbi Isadore Breslau. Specific activities were developed for 22 major Jewish communities throughout the country.
