The American Federation of Polish Jews, in a statement issued at a press conference by Dr. Joseph Tenenbaum, president, today charged that Lt. Gen. Sir Frederick Morgan is “apparently not at all applied at the figure of 2,000 Jews murdered between May 28 and Dec. 1 by pogromist in Poland.”
The American Zionist Emergency Council, speaking for the entire Zionist movement in the United States, branded Gen. Morgan’s statement “an outrageous libel” against the Jewish people. “We demand the immediate and complete repudiation of the vicious statement by General Morgan, which beamirches the good name of UNRRA, no less than that of Britain itself,” the Council declared.
