American Jewish soldiers will celebrate Purim on German soil this year, with eleven Jewish chaplains attached to frontline units holding services on the evening of Feb. 26th and throughout the next day.
The state of hostilities permitting, Jews in infantry and armored units in combat areas will gather in small groups with the chaplains for the traditional observance Other Purim services will be held throughout Belgium and France for personnel of the air force and communications services. Major Judah Nadich., Chief Jewish Chaplain in this theatre, will officiate at services in Paris.
