American Jews one day may be able to receive a battery of screening tests for genetic diseases at low cost. The New York-based Trust for Jewish Philanthropy, an offshoot of the North American federation system and an incubator of sorts for large-scale, innovative Jewish projects, is considering launching a genetics project that would offer tests for diseases such as Tay-Sachs and Canavan.
