Zionism in countries outside Israel must support the totality of Israeli life, and not align itself with any internal, political parties in Israel, Samuel M. Daroff, president of the American Jewish League for Israel, declared today, in summarizing discussions held at a meeting of the League’s board of directors here this weekend.
The League, he said, reaffirms “the unequivocal support of the concept of non-identification with the political parties in Israel espoused by the World Confederation of General Zionists under the co-chairmanship of Dr. Israel Goldstein and Mrs. Rose L. Halprin, of which the League is an affiliate.”
“In support of this concept,” he said, “the League strongly feels that the existence in the Diaspora of Zionist political parties is a negative and stultifying factor for the movement. For this reason, the League advocates the establishment in the United States of a strong, single Zionist organization, since only through such a centralized force can the best interests of Israel and the American Jewish community be served.”
