Tribute to the late Julius Rosenwald for his friendliness and philanthropy to the colored race, will be paid by Negroes in memorial services to be held Sunday throughout the country.
Washington Negroes have made elaborate plans for the memorial exercises. At the Twelfth Street Y. M. C. A. on Sunday afternoon, Dean Dwight O. W. Holmes of the College of Education, Howard University, will deliver the address in tribute to Mr. Rosenwald. The exercises will begin at 4 o’clock and are part of a national commemoration of the life and philanthropy of the great Jewish friend of the colored race.
Throughout the country Y. M. C. A. organizations serving colored men and boys are paying tribute to Mr. Rosenwald who played an important part in the development of Y. M. C. A. facilities for colored men.
Beginning with a $25,000 contribution to the Twelfth Street Y. M. C. A., Mr. Rosenwald, thorugh similar contributions to twenty-one other cities, stimulated contruction of Y. M. C. A. buildings for Negroes throughout the country.
