A resolution appealing to the Israel Government to refrain from carrying out the law which provides for the conscription of women into military service and religious women into non-military national service was adopted here last night at a mass meeting arranged by the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada.
The meeting, attended by about 1,000 Orthodox Jews, was addressed by leading rabbis who emphasized that Orthodox Jewry in the United States is opposed to any kind of national service for women in Israel. The speakers also demanded increased religious education in Israel.
