American Revisionists Criticized for Asking Churchill to Drop Palestine Mandate

Decrying the recent demand by the New Zionist Organization in America that Britain drop the mandate for Palestine, Prof. Selig Brodetsky, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, and member of the executive of the Jewish Agency, yesterday told the annual conference of the British Mizrachi that Prime Minister Churchill’s recent visit to the United States was “the wrong time to attack the British Government in America on the question of the mandate.” (The NZO’s demand was voiced in a full-page advertisement in the New York Times on May 18.)

Chief Rabbi Hertz denounced the boycott of Zionist funds in Britain by sections of the orthodox rabbinate, who are displeased with the arrangements made for the religious education of the Jewish children who recently arrived in Palestine from refugee camps in Teheran. The convention went on record opposing the “attempts by elements hostile to the national regeneration of the Jewish people to exploit this affair to injure the National Home and the Jewish national movement.” The delegates adopted resolutions asking the United Nations to recognize Palestine as a Jewish Commonwealth after the war, condemning the White Paper and opposing restrictions on immigration and land purchase by Jews in Palestine.
