The British Government is expected to issue an official statement this week on the Nazi massacres of Jews, it was reported here today following visits to Foreign Minister Anthony Eden by the American Ambassador John G. Winant and the Russian Ambassador Ivan Maisky.
The two envoys are reported to have discussed with Eden the question of united action against the Nazis in connection with the mass-killing of Jews in occupied territories. The Polish Foreign Minister, Razcynski, has also submitted to Eden authenticated documents containing accounts of the Nazi deportation of Jews from the ghettos in Poland and of the mass-slaughter of Jews there.
The London Times reported today that the Nazi radio is broadcasting the date when each occupied country must be cleared of Jews. The paper states that more and more evidence is reaching the Foreign Office concerning the Nazi annihilation of the Jews. “The question arises whether the Allied Governments can do anything to prevent Hitler’s threats of exterminating the Jews from being carried out literally,” the Times writes.
